Q: How can I know if I have an STD?

A: If you have been sexually active, you need to be tested by your doctor or medical clinic.  There are STDs that do not have symptoms – Chlamydia is called the “silent disease” because it usually has no symptoms.  Don’t assume you are free of disease.  Life Choices encourages medical check-ups with your doctor.

“When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they have had sex with for the last ten years and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last ten years.”
C. Everett Koop, M.D., Former U.S. Surgeon General

You are the person who decides whether to expose yourself to STDs.  The number of infected people is constantly increasing.  Most of these people don’t even know that they are carriers of disease.  An estimated 65 million people in the United States currently have an incurable STD.
