Am I The Father? :: What is Abortion?

What is Abortion?
The Right to Choose Includes the Right to Know:

Abortion (sometimes called termination) according to the dictionary is “the spontaneous (miscarriage) or induced termination (surgical or medical ending) of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.”

It’s hard to think clearly when you feel stressed or anxious.  It is easy to panic and react quickly in a way that you believe will eliminate a problem. Finding out you are pregnant, can seem like a big problem. If you are considering an abortion, we want you to know what this could mean to your future. We want to help you think. Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to have an abortion. This is one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life.Wouldn’t you like to make an informed choice?

The following checklist will help you to think.

  • Are you sure you are pregnant?
Our center can provide you with a laboratory quality urine test free of charge.
  • Are you sure you have a viable, uterine pregnancy?
(Viable means capable of developing under normal conditions.) A non-diagnostic ultrasound at Life Choices can tell you how many weeks you are into the pregnancy. The ultrasound can tell you if your baby is inside your uterus and if there is a heartbeat.
  • Do you know about the possible emotional complications following an abortion?
After abortion some women feel initial relief but later on may feel a sense of loss, grief, guilt, regret, or anger.
  • Do you know about the possible physical complications following an abortion?
Don’t sign anything that releases the doctor or the abortion clinic from being responsible for hurting you during an abortion.  For more information see Abortion Complications.
  • Do you know about the abortion procedures?
Until you know how many weeks you are into your pregnancy, you can’t know what type of abortion you would have.  Are you informed about all of the procedures?  Remember, it is against the law for anyone to force you to have an abortion.  Not even a husband or parent can require you to undergo an abortion against your will.  Let Life Choices give you the facts about abortion procedures.
  • Do you have knowledge about fetal (the baby’s) development?
